Community Investment

How we show up in our communities matters, and we are honored to partner and support hundreds of organizations across our company footprint. Since 2007, we have helped raise and direct over $10 million to charity organizations in the communities we call home. Giving back is part of our company and employee culture. Together with our community partners we are Building Connections to Enable Better Lives.

Good corporate citizenship is an important responsibility. Now more than ever our nonprofit community partners need our support. We are proud to share that during our Nation’s COVID-19 response and the most-recent industry downturn, we have been able to keep our regional community grant dollars and employee matching gift funds whole.

Our charitable grant and sponsorship program, re-designed in 2019, allows us to connect more deeply in our communities. Our employees now nominate and select our Major National Charitable partner, we have dedicated regional grant funding and program leads, and company-wide our philanthropic efforts focus on three core pillars: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM); Health Awareness; and Love of Country.
 

DCP’s New Major National Charitable Partner – Wounded Warrior Project

In late 2019, DCP employees nominated and selected Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) as DCP’s new Major National Charitable Partner. Company donations and employee fundraising and volunteer efforts are helping to provide life-changing programs and services for injured veterans and their families. DCP’s financial support is helping warriors and their families in their greatest time of financial need through WWP’s Emergency Financial Assistance (EFA) Program – which offers emergency, one-time grants for basic needs such as keeping the lights on or a roof overhead. Our support is literally helping to enable better lives for our wounded warriors and those who have sacrificed so much.  

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math Education

We helped launch a “Bring STEM to Life” program in Colorado with the American Heart Association, exposing over 100 high school girls to STEM careers in the oil and gas industry. DCP female engineers also joined high school students for a speed mentoring and session and hosted a career day field trip at one of our facilities.

In Oklahoma, DCP donating funds to Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s new welding technology training center to help purchase a new welding machine. This innovative workforce partnership helps provide a pipeline of talent for high-demand welding careers in the local area and for our industry.
   

Love of Country

We have a strong partnership with the American Red Cross, supporting their efforts to support communities and individuals affected by disasters. We have offered American Red Cross First Aid training to our teams, our employees have virtually volunteered with the Red Cross during the COVID-19 pandemic, and DCP financial support recently helped the Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming purchase a new emergency response vehicle.

In New Mexico, a group of employees led an initiative to name five newly constructed booster stations after New Mexico Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. DCP donated $20,000 to the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation in honor of this effort and the Foundation’s 20th anniversary. These new compressor stations provide reliable natural gas gathering and processing capacity for our customers, help us honor our Nation’s veterans, and help connect us to the heart of the local community.
   

Health Awareness

We are proud of our outstanding partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA), our immediate past major national charitable partner. Since 2007, our efforts helped raise and direct nearly $9M to the AHA’s mission to reduce heart and stroke disease. Year over year during our partnership, we were recognized as one of the AHA’s top corporate fundraisers nation-wide.

Our commitment to community health awareness also ties strongly to our focus on safety. We look for creative ways to support and champion first responders. One such effort is employee participation in multiple life-saving blood drives annually. At our Denver Headquarters, DCP’s partnership with Bonfils Blood Center, now Vitalant, began in 2004 and DCP employees have donated over 467 units of blood helping to provide needed blood resources to over 1,400 people.
   

Employee Volunteerism and Matching Gifts

We recognize that impactful community partnerships go beyond writing checks. Our most valuable asset - our employees - invest thousands of volunteer hours each year and personal resources to support and improve the communities where we live and operate. As our volunteer program tag-line says, “We Are Putting Our Energy to Good Use”.

DCP Midstream encourages and supports our employees’ efforts whether volunteering as firefighters, school volunteers, or serving on boards of various trade associations and non-profit organizations. We launched a company-wide volunteer site in 2020 and a Community Connections Committee in 2019 to support employee volunteerism. Volunteer activities championed by this committee include: silent auction fundraisers, kick-ball for a cause, school supply and holiday toy drives, Habitat for Humanity house builds, chili cook-offs, and charity bike rides.

We are proud of our employee volunteers and are delighted to share a few of their recent activities. DCP’s Tax team in Denver supports A Precious Child, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower kids to succeed. DCP employees have coordinate school supply drives in June, backpack kitting events in August, and join in holiday toy packaging events with A Precious Child.
 

DCP provided financial support for Habitat for Humanity and the “House that Energy Built,” an oil and gas industry collaboration helping to build a home for a deserving family in need. In addition to project funding support, DCP employees volunteered at two Habitat build days.

 

For the past 13 years DCP employees in Central Oklahoma have made the decision to forgo a traditional winter holiday party and instead use the time and resources to buy and build bikes, trikes, and scooters for local families and kids in need, helping give “wheels” to around 50 kids each year.

 

We are also proud to offer a generous charitable matching gift program to our employees. This program provides a dollar-for-dollar match to five organizations nominated and selected by our employees and 50 cents on the dollar to other qualified charity organizations with up to a $5,000 match total per employee, per calendar year. The five organizations currently receiving DCP dollar-for-dollar employee matching gift benefits include: Wounded Warrior Project, Make A Wish, Habitat for Humanity, 4-H, and the American Red Cross.
